Nicholas Marfongelli

Green Beret - US Army

Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania - MBA

As the son of two rescue firefighters, Nick grew up in a blue-collar family that is rich with selfless service. He was first inspired to serve when he watched his father return to the military in the wake of the attacks on 9/11 after several years off active duty. After attending Providence College, earning a degree in Political Science, and serving as an Infantry officer, Nick wanted to put himself where he could be a difference maker in the world.

Nick earned his Green Beret and led his Special Forces Team on multiple deployments to South and Central America. On his final deployment, Nick was overwhelmed by the courage of the soldiers he was training and the warmth of the local populace. Although his time on a Special Forces Team was over, Nick remained hungry to serve and enable vulnerable populations to prosper and make the world a better place.

Nick will pursue his MBA at the Wharton School at UPenn with an emphasis on the fusion of public and private sector to equip him with the tools necessary to work on infrastructure development and cross border investments in South America. Nick intends to expand the Spanish language development program he created in his hometown across the country to eliminate communication barriers during 911 emergencies. Eventually, Nick plans to serve his home state of Massachusetts as a civic leader with special interest in Veteran advocacy and education.
