Ed grew up in rural Ely, Minnesota and enlisted at 17 years old in high school under the Navy SEAL contract. After boot camp and “A” school, he was the youngest to graduate in BUD/S class 253 at the age of 19. He attended Special Operations Combat Medic school, and then served four years at SEAL Team 10 and three years at Naval Special Warfare Advanced Training Command as a Sniper Instructor. He has been a member of Naval Special Warfare Development Group since 2013 and plans to retire this winter in January 2024.
Ed has 10 deployments across 5 different combat theaters; 2 Bronze Star medals with Valor, 4 Joint Commendation medals (1 with Valor and 2 with Combat), and a Purple Heart. Ed earned his Bachelors of Arts in Security Management from American Public University System during active duty service. He is currently attending Colorado State University pursuing his Masters in Business Administration specializing in Organizational Leadership.
Ed enjoys outdoor adventures and being a Dad to his three kids. After retirement, he plans on taking on a leadership position of a high-performing team focused on collaboration and growth.
