Daughter of US Navy Officer
Baylor College of Medicine / MD
Makenna May is from Waco, Texas, although like many military children she had many homes. She attended college at San Diego State University and majored in Foods and Nutrition. While in college she served communities local and abroad through Flying Samaritans and Feeding America. Since graduating college in 2021 she traveled extensively in South America, refining her Spanish to better serve patients in her future career as a physician.
Makenna is now a first year student at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She is interested in the fields of Neurology, Pediatrics, and Surgery. Makenna aims to continue the pattern of service modeled by her parents, a Navy officer and teacher. She is honored to be awarded the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation Scholarship, and hopes to respect its legacy with a life of service to others.
