Steele McCulley

US Navy SEAL, 8 Years of Service

Steele McCulley grew up in rural Illinois. Upon completing SEAL training in 2014, Steele attended the Army’s Special Operation Combat Medic course. He then served on an East Coast SEAL Team as the lead medic of his platoon, completing two deployments including one to Somalia.

 

Steele realized his passions were in medicine early in his career, and he began pursuing his education at George Washington University, where he earned his Bachelors degree. Thanks to the help of the GDMF, Steele was successfully accepted to medical school, and he is now first-year medical student at the University of Iowa. Steele also continues to work as a research assistant for the university.

 

Steele wishes to continue serving veterans while pursuing his medical education and is an active member of the Special Operations Medic Coalition. He is passionate about furthering research on the effects of TBI’s on service members and veterans. Steele is passionate about spending time in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and riding horses in his free time.
